This is a fireplace first and a heater second, and it's built accordingly: a wide glass front, a deep ember bed, and flame that moves independently of the heat setting. Use it in July with the element off and nobody will know.

Heating is a 1,500 W PTC element with a blower that pushes warm air out along the floor, which is where it does the most good in a room with high ceilings. No venting, no chimney, no fuel.

Care

Wipe the housing with a dry or slightly damp cloth while unplugged. Vacuum the intake grille every few weeks during the season — dust on the intake is the most common reason a heater feels weaker in February than it did in November. Never run it under a towel or blanket, and keep at least a foot of clearance on all sides.

Plugging it in safely

Built with a tip-over cut-off and a thermal cut-off that kill power before the housing gets hot enough to matter. Plug it straight into a wall outlet — a space heater is the one appliance that should never share a power strip or an extension cord. Keep a foot of clearance on all sides.
